The Phoenix (410 Sherbourne), Saturday (August 18), doors 7 pm. $48.50. RT, SS, TM.
The Jamaican musician might be in his 60s now, but he's hardly slowing down. Credited with bringing reggae to the masses in the 70s thanks to his starring role in The Harder They Come - and on its soundtrack - Cliff launches his latest album, Rebirth, on Saturday (August 18) at the Phoenix. Produced by Rancid's Tim Armstrong (!), it's a lively, raw and classic-sounding mix of originals and covers (including the Clash's Guns Of Brixton) that's sure to spark a deserved Jimmy Cliff revival.
