This week’s must-see Toronto shows

Savages

Intensity is Savages’ stock in trade. Theatrical and gothy, the London, England, post-punk band’s singer, Parisian Jehnny Beth, has a penetrating glare and an unholy wail that punctuate the squalling guitars and aggressively danceable rhythms. The four-piece’s new album, Silence Yourself (Matador), is earning well-deserved praise, and their shows are not to be missed. As they told NOW in March during CMW, they put a lot of time and care into their performances, so expect awesomeness from their Mod Club gig, their first Toronto show unattached to a hectic festival schedule.
