This week’s must-see Toronto shows

Beck

Beck has made a career out of ricocheting from quirky electro-rocker to melancholy psych folkie. He’s pretty mellow yellow on his newest album, Morning Phase – as the title suggests- but don’t expect a subdued performance at the Sony Centre.

Live, Beck can be irreverent and off-the-cuff. At a recent date in Dallas, he danced and shimmied, and threw a cover of Billie Jean into the mix plus older hits like Devils Haircut and breakthrough Loser.

Openers the Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger, Sean Lennon’s new project with Charlotte Kemp Muhl, return just weeks after their Hoxton gig, and their 60s psychedelia-tinged tunes should be the perfect complement.
