Bambu’s not dead yet
When the new Bambu failed to reopen after its annual January Jamaican vacation, word on the street was that the revered island-style venue had closed for good. Calls to the nightclub’s disconnected phone seemed to confirm the story. But the ‘Bu’s not dead yet, says kingpin Richard O’Brien, who moved the venerable Queen West party spot to dramatic digs at Harbourfront last spring. “We’re restructuring,” says O’Brien from his Queens Quay headquarters. “Hopefully, we’ve cinched a deal so we’ll be back in business June 1.”
