Upcoming, Taste Of The Danforth, August 6-8

Pretend you’re a winner and head down to Greektown to celebrate the food, bask in the enduring joy over Greece’s European Cup victory and perhaps even learn a little bit about the great philosophers. OK, so the philosophizing may not happen, but Taste Of The Danforth, the annual east-end street fair, offers no end of tunes on three separate stages throughout the blocks-spanning event. Like the food, the musical lineup isn’t all Greek, although advertised headliners Pavlo and Souxou Mouxou certainly are. Singer/songwriter Danny Michel will also be performing, as will African acts Kobe Aquaa Harrison and Panafrotix, along with many more.

If you’re not into planning ahead, Taste Of The Danforth is equally enjoyable if you just show up, eat and randomly check out the acts. Drape yourself in a Greek flag and you might wind up having shot after shot of ouzo bought for you, provided you’re not a child or overly facetious about wearing the flag.

See Concert Calendar, page 49, for detailed listings, or check out www.tasteofthedanforth.com for more info.
