Parachute Club, May 14, Hugh’s Room

T.O.’s Parachute Club teamed up with 80s pop cohorts Martha and the Muffins for a retro reunion last Saturday (May 14), proving the old songs still have legs. Mark Gane , in great playing form, and Martha Johnson served up Martha’s art rock hits to a rapt audience, but it was when Lorraine Segato and the ‘Chutes hit the stage and ripped into a tight version of Freedom Song that the crowd went nuts. Original members Billy Bryans on drums, bassist Keir Brownstone and guitarist Dave Gray , along with new keyboardist Ashley Wey , had the funk goin’ on while a smokin’ Segato, backed by singers Mystic Petrelli and Miranda Walsh , proved she may still be one of the city’s best live performers.

We’re guessing this show will go up again. Don’t miss it when it does.
