Domaine D'or should be your new boyfriend... or at least your new gallery-hopping art rock crush. Really. At C Magazine's October 11 launch of its Young Canadians issue, the Domaine duo - Vanessa Fischer (No Dynamics) and Alex Wolfson (of video art pair Ann Frankincense) vamped up Bar Italia's ultra-swank bright-light atmosphere with their cunning, sleazy beats. Decked out in their gothic best, including transparent sunglasses, platinum wigs and neck tutus, the twosome delivered their portentous messages via two mics and a shared Casio. The highlight was top track Nightmares, which captured Fischer's razor-edged wail and Wolfson's guttural growl at their hands-down best. Better yet, Domaine D'or are gearing up for their first recording, a limited 500-run vinyl EP that'll kick off Paul Petro Contemporary Art's newbie label, Little Dude. Expect it to drop in January.
