Worth The Candle

Candle Recording on Sterling Road is one of the busiest studios in town, behind albums by Cousins, Wish, Teenanger, Fucked Up, Greys, Beliefs and so many more. They’re so busy, in fact, that they’ve just added a third engineer to their two-person roster of Leon Taheny and Josh Korody. Nathan Carter Moore can handle string sections as well as jazz, pop and rock, reports Candle’s Facebook page. And if you’ve had trouble booking studio time in the past, the good news is that he’s available tout de suite. candlerecording.com

Rise up

We know Lorraine Segato primarily for her work with the Parachute Club (Rise Up, anyone?), but she’s also a busy social justice activist, a combination that’s led to her being named Regent Park’s first artist in residence. The two-year position through the Daniels Corporation will see her creating a template for a future artist in residence program, finding ways to bring more attention to the neighbourhood and curating cultural activities.
