Trouble was brewing in Can-rock this week when two beloved, but apparently very sensitive, Canadian artists had a Twitter spat. And it seems that as a result, Tyler Stewart, drummer for the Barenaked Ladies, and writer and musician Dave Bidini (formerly of the Rheostatics, currently in Bidiniland) may no longer be friends.
The argument started innocently enough, after a hockey fan showed appreciation for Bidini's NHL commentary and James Mirtle, another sports writer, jumped in.
Cue Stewart, and all hell broke loose.
As it turned out, Stewart's real sore spot can be attributed to a piece Bidini wrote for the National Post... in February of 2013. It's not clear whether or not if Stewart had seen the piece at time of publication but just hadn't spoken to his former bud in a year and a half, or if he'd just happened to be Googling "Naked Ladies," as they're referred to in the story, and it popped up.
It's also not clear what exactly offended him so much, or why Bidini reacted QUITE. SO. STRONGLY.
