Items gathered on René Lévesque Boulevard near the perimeter at the Quebec City Summit at 8:30 pm Friday, April 20, following a five-hour confrontation between protestors and riot police.

PROTESTOR PARAPHERNALIA

(1) Stuffed animals launched by 20-foot wooden catapult

(2) Sharpened fence picket(3) Unidentified protestor munition: cardboard tube wrapped in foil, filled with waxy substance, plugged with matches — apparently detonated and snuffed

(4) Bike helmet, soiled

(5) Workers’ World newspaper, organ of the New York City-based Workers’ World party, one of a large pile of discarded Workers’ World newspapers

(6) Rocks knocked loose from concrete base of toppled fence

(7) Boot, size 7

(8) Cuban flag, paper

LAW-ENFORCEMENT MATERIEL

Note: all identified munitions were manufactured by Florida-based Defense Technologies-Federal Laboratories Inc., which promises “less lethal solutions for every situation.”

(9) 514 CS Blast Dispersion Grenade: dust-discharge canister. Also called a “concussion bomb.” Thrown by hand. Label warns: “Do not fire directly at persons as serious injury or death may result.” Price: $33 U.S.

(10) Gas mask filter, discarded by an RCMP officer after prolonged tear-gas exposure rendered it ineffective

(11) 555 CS Spedeheat and CS Spedeheat Grenades: continuous-discharge tear gas canisters. Thrown by hand. Price: $27.50 U.S.

(12) 565-5 CS Skat-Shell: continuous-burn tear gas projectile. Thrown using a launcher to reach deep into crowds. Price: $28.50 U.S.

(13) 519 CS Han-Ball Grenade: tear gas grenade. Thrown by hand. Price: $26.50 U.S.

(14) Long, black cylinder: unidentified rubber-bullet casing
