1. HELP ST. CLAIR WEST HOMELESS
Homelessness is not just a downtown issue. Talk to the people at Wychwood Open Door, an org that supports marginalized and socially isolated people in the St. Clair West area, and they’ll assure you that midtown has its own share of homeless people. Help fund the org and support the people it helps at Come To The Cabaret! The event features performances by Amanda Martinez, David Wall, Roula Said and more Friday (June 12) at St. Matthew’s Church (729 St. Clair West). 7 pm, $25. www.wychwoodopendoor.org/events
2. MYSEUM WANTS YOUR STORIES
The Toronto Myseum project, the brainchild of Toronto archivist and philanthropist Diane Blake, takes to the streets Saturday (June 13) at the Brick Works (550 Bayview) and Sunday (June 14) at the Scarborough Museum (1007 Brimley) in the first of a series of pop-up events this summer organized to collect the stories of Torontonians to start building Myseum’s digital archives. Interested participants are encouraged to bring their artifacts as well. Noon to 4 pm. Pre-register at myseumoftoronto.com.
3. PUTTING WYNNE AGENDA TO THE TEST
Some sharp political satire performed by Boylesque imagines the corporate forces behind the Preem’s anti-poverty agenda at Tranzac Club Thursday (June 18) in a benefit for the Put Food In The Budget campaign, which is demanding a $100-a-month increase in social assistance rates. 8 pm. 292 Brunswick. putfoodinthebudget.ca.
