1. Turning up the heat on climate change

Bill McKibben delivers the Robert Hunter Memorial Lecture (named after the former Greenpeace founder and CityTV broadcaster) entitled Turning Up the Heat: Physics And Politics In A Warming World at the Isabel Bader Theatre on Wednesday (April 3). McKibben, the founder of 350.org and a recipient of the Right Livelihood Award (sometimes called the “Alternative Nobel Prize”), will discuss climate change and the growing movement to rein it in. 6-8 pm. 93 Charles West. $20, students/unwaged $10. 2. Earth Hour tour of the astros

The University of Toronto’s Graduate Astronomy Students Association puts a scientific lens on Earth Hour celebrations with a tour of the stars, featuring telescope observations, planetarium shows and interactive demos at the Reichman Family Lecture Hall on Saturday (March 30). A panel discussion spotlighting some of the brightest ideas in astronomy, astrobiology, atmospheric science and planetary science kicks off the event. 7-10 pm. Free. 3. The (Un)liveable city

Pioneering urban planner John van Nostrand joins urban planner/researcher Cheryll Case, renovicted tenant Aurora Browne and Toronto Star housing reporter Emily Mathieu as they parse Toronto’s affordable housing crisis in a discussion at the Art Gallery of Ontario on Wednesday (April 3). 7 pm.
