Canadian artists make their mark on the Wii

Following along Xbox’s Konsoles for Kids, Nintendo has some custom painted (as in, directly on) consoles up for grabs.

On www.artofwii.com, you can check out 4 of 6 consoles they’ve had Canadian artists design. Of particular interest to me is the one from UDON by Arnold Tsang. I used to colour comics with these guys, and still keep in contact with them. They were all hush hush about some secret project, (of many), but here’s one mystery revealed!

From the press release:

Famed illustrator Gary Taxali, Hoi-An Tang, punk group illScarlett and Arnold Tsang of Udon Entertainment, were commissioned by Nintendo in association with Magic Pony, and created four of the unique consoles. The two remaining contributing artists will be revealed on TheArtofWii.ca at a later date.

From now until April 30, Canadians can visit TheArtofWii.ca to register for a chance to win one of the fully-functional, one-of-a-kind Wii video game consoles. Since its launch last November, the wildly popular Wii has been the top-selling system in Canada.

So if you want one, you’ve got to April 30th! I suspect these will be up at Magic Pony at some point, since they’re co-sponsors. Don’t hold me to that.

Also love the Wii-browser friendly looking site.
