Ontario announces three-step reopening plan
Ontario reports 1,135 new COVID-19 cases, 19 deaths
Ontario is reporting 1,135 new cases of COVID-19 and 19 deaths on May 27.
The province detected 1,095 new cases on Wednesday, 1,039 cases on Tuesday and 1,446 on Monday. The seven-day rolling average is down to 1,441 cases.
Ontario completed 37,705 tests in the past 24 hours, marking a positivity rate of 3.6 per cent – the lowest rate the province has seen since March 19.
The province administered 143,748 doses of the vaccine over the past day, bringing the provincial total to 8,530,698 doses administered and 594,854 people who are fully vaccinated.
Active cases continue to decline, down to 16,541 today, and there are 1,072 people in hospital due to the virus. There are 650 patients currently in intensive care, the lowest number in the province since April 14. That includes 452 patients on ventilators.
Of the deaths reported today, two were between the ages of 20 and 39 and six were between the ages of 40 and 59.
To date, there have been a total of 527,180 COVID-19 cases in Ontario and 8,697 deaths.
