Ontario reports 590 new cases of COVID-19 and 11 deaths

Ontario is reporting 590 new COVID-19 cases and 11 deaths on June 10, the fifth consecutive day of daily case counts under 700.

The province saw 411 new cases on Wednesday, 469 case on Tuesday and 525 on Monday. The seven-day rolling average is at 617, similar to the averages of early October in 2020. The seven-day average last Thursday was 940.

“Locally, there are 130 new cases in Peel, 114 in Toronto, 61 in Waterloo, 38 in Hamilton and 32 in York Region,” Health Minister Christine Elliott said on Twitter. “Our seven-day average continues to decline as key public health and health system indicators trend in the right direction.”

Ontario administered 182,350 additional doses of the vaccine over the past day, bringing the provincial total to 10,627,469 total doses administered and 1,399,776 people fully vaccinated.

The province completed 31,423 tests over the past 24 hours, marking a two per cent positivity rate, similar to early October 2020 positivity rates. The rate was two per cent yesterday and 2.8 per cent last week.

The total number of confirmed active cases are down to 6,464 and there are 516 hospitalizations, down 55 from the day before. Patients in intensive care are down 16 to 450 patients, including 291 patients on ventilators.

To date, there have been 538,077 COVID-19 cases in Ontario and 8,931 deaths.
