Kim Stanford is finally getting her props. The former chair of the Toronto Dance Safety Committee is receiving a community achievement award from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in recognition of her work in the rave scene ­– specifically for her harm reduction outreach.She railed against the knee-jerk council that wanted to shut the parties down and worked to bring together ravers, promoters, public health officials and politicians to hammer out a rave protocol. Says centre program consultant Stephen Meredith, “She’s really done some innovative peer-based outreach and harm reduction work.” SA
