Daniel Day-Lewis

In The Unbearable Lightness Of Being, his first U.S.-made film, Daniel Day-Lewis plays a womanizing neurosurgeon, a role unlike anything he’d taken on before. Then again, as he told NOW (page 21 of the issue), he doesn’t like to repeat himself and never has, playing parts so disparate, there can be no such thing as typecasting. On Sunday (February 24) he’s the favourite to walk off with the best-actor Oscar for Lincoln, making him the first ever – and that includes Jack Nicholson and Dustin Hoffman – to win three in that category. Bet on it.
