David Suzuki gets Barenaked

Went to the Barenaked Ladies concert at the Air Canada Centre this past Friday. Maybe I don’t go to concerts enough, (the last one was uh.. I don’t remember), but this one gave me warm fuzzies all around.

Firstly, I was suprised at how green it was. Biodiesel fueled tour vehicles, solar and wind powered energy use, and just the general promotion of various good causes throughout the lobby. It was in sharp contrast to my jaded thought previous to entering the ACC about how much the tour book would be hawked for.

Secondly, and to my delight, David Suzuki takes the stage right before the Ladies to pimp his “If You Were Prime Minister…” tour. I used to call him David Zucchini when I was little. Pretty awesome to see him.

Thirdly, appealing to the nerd in me, BNL sells USB keys of that night’s concert… right after the concert ends! You can find it online too.

And of course, there’s the reason you go to the concert – the music. Memories of tunes threaded through high school dances, road trips, and in the background while hanging out with friends.

It was a fun and oddly well-behaved crowd, with the BNL coming out for two encores.
