DAY 1 – Afternoon after TIFFs

The streets of Yorkville were mellow this morning as journalists scurried through the neighbourhood weighed down with swag. Thursday is media day in TIFF’s gift lounges and the grand loot bag tour delivered a bounty of freebies and celebrity sightings.

Actress Kristin Booth rifled through the racks of Canadian designer clothing and accessories with her stylist Linda Gaylard at the Wardrobe Lounge, hidden in a laneway off of the Four Season’s Hotel. Local labels including Jason Meyers, Nada and Colette Harmon will loan their wears to stars including Liv Tyler and Rachel Leigh Cook who are desperate for an emergency style fix.

Booth herself was hunting for a pair of shoes to match her David Dixon frock this evening.

Over at the Intercontinental, Jeff Goldblum beat me to the eco angled Tastemakers Green Room. Displays of Timex watches, Mavi Jeans and a man in a panda suit ready to hug fellow earth lovers didn’t stand a chance of winning the actor’s attention against a model in a V Del Sol bikini.

Apparently, Angelina might be stopping by but the only other recognizables I spotted were e-gossiper Lainey pacing the sidewalk with a cig and a diet soda and a blond channeling Sienna Miller style bouncing around in front of a pack of bodyguards blocking the doors to a cream Escalade.

The boldest face that had shopped the Windsor Arms’ IT Lounge by the time I dropped by was Canadian Idol judge-about town Farley Flex . We are now both proud owners of a Right Hand Gal lucky clover pendant. When the stars start pouring in from their suites upstairs, we bet they make a bee line for the Trove t-shirts , perfect for incognito walks down Bloor.
