Iconic punk poet Patti Smith had been away from the stage for over 15 years when she hit town to test drive songs that would eventually appear on her 1996 album, Gone Again. She talked to NOW about the deaths of soulmates Robert Mapplethorpe and Fred Smith and how she dealt with her status as legend (page 30 of the issue). Plainly, that status is unchanged. She’s performing at the AGO March 7 in conjunction with an exhibit of her photos opening February 9. Tickets for the live performance of words and music go on sale February 8. Good luck with that – fans have gone into a collective swoon, and Facecook, Twitter and every other medium are going nuts over the news.
