There isn’t an author alive who doesn’t have a story about being encouraged to write by someone who mattered. That’s what Small Print Toronto is about. The org stages interactive literary programs to inspire kids to discover how stories work. Poor people’s east-end history
Where exactly will all the poor go when the prettifying of Toronto’s east downtown finally finishes? Here’s a chance to see how those without resources have been steadily shunted out of this ‘hood. People’s historian Gaetan Heroux of OCAP leads a walking tour tracing changes in the area from the poorhouse in the 1830s to unemployed organizing a century later, to the remake of Cabbagetown and Regent Park. Minimum wage needs a lift
Several orgs, including the new power union Unifor, are pushing for an all-important $14 minimum wage.
