How to access medical marijuana

Last year, 21.7 million opioid prescriptions were dispensed in Canada, a figure that places our nation as their second-highest consumer in the world. [1] Across Canada, there have been over 4,000 hospitalizations due to acetaminophen overdoses. [2]

In response to these troubling statistics, a group of compassionate health care providers launched Plants Not Pills, an organization that connects patients with cannabis-trained physicians willing to consider medical marijuana as an alternative to prescription medication.

How do I become a client?

If you have a health condition or wish to explore how marijuana can reduce pain, discomfort or other symptoms you experience, check out this video and then follow these simple steps.

  • Complete the registration form on the Plants Not Pills website.
  • A knowledgeable and friendly staff member will contact you to assess your case and help you determine whether you qualify for medical cannabis in accordance with Health Canada’s guidelines.
  • If you’re eligible, you’ll meet with a physician for a complete consultation and to answer any questions you may have. The physician will guide you on dosing specific to your condition as well as education on withdrawal from other medication. You’ll also learn about strain selection, THC/CBD balancing and methods of consumption.
  • If your assessment indicates medical cannabis is a suitable treatment option for your condition, you will receive a patient registration/ID number to begin ordering it. Plants Not Pills is able to recommend licensed producers and complete your registration with them.

Do I have to smoke it?

Rather than inhaling it, you now have the ability to ingest medicinal cannabis as a cookie or candy, oil, capsule, spray or in a vaporizer. While cannabis may not yet be called a cure for any illness, it can help alleviate insomnia, chronic pain, migraines, depression, anxiety, PTSD and a host of other symptoms associated with serious illness.

Who supplies the medical marijuana?

Under the Canadian government’s new program, all Canadians are able to access medical cannabis through licensed producers such as Aphria, who expertly cultivate regulated medical cannabis that is lab-tested for contaminants, additives, microbials and molds.

Ontario-grown greenhouse cannabis differs greatly from “street cannabis”. A wide range of low to high and balanced THC and/or CBD strains offer variety to give relief from a wide range of health conditions. This selection can provide our patients with a better quality of life and increased ability to function normally while ensuring product consistency and availability.

The CBD-dominant strains provide pain relief without any psychoactive side effects, there is no ‘high’ and many of our patients use this medical marijuana to treat their ailments while continuing to lead busy, productive lives.

Take the first step to an alternative solution to pain relief today by contacting Plants Not Pills through our online registration formUse the promo code NOW16 and receive a $10 gift card sent to you when you make your first purchase from one of our affiliated licensed producers.
