Guitar Hero breaks free from the console

Any rock n’ roll loving geek has a copy of Guitar Hero for PS2 of Xbox 360. I mean, face it there’s nothing a geek loves more than for a brief moment to feel like they are Gene Simmons or Slash kickin’ out a wicked solo to a crowd of thousands.

Apparently being confined to their living room and the Guitar Hero set list wasn’t enough for some people. The guys of Guitar Zero have taken it to another level of rock geekiness. They’ve hooked their Xplorer controllers into laptops running Max/MSP. Using Max they interpret the controls on the Xplorer into audio signals generated in the software. This has allowed them to create guitar and bass emulators that are backed by live vocals and drums.
