Bedbugs! At TIFF! Cameron Bailey, the co-director of TIFF, is allaying fears of bedbugs after patrons of ScotiaBank theatre complained of itchiness and bites after a movie there. He tweets that he’s planning for an “itch-free #TIFF10.” Cineplex, the theatre’s corporate overlord, tweeted they are “immediately investigating the issue.” Further proof bedbugs are being treated like a 21st plague.

False alarm. No bedbugs were found.

It’s the anniversary of the death of Darcy Allan Sheppard, the cyclist who died after a confrontation with former AG Michael Bryant. Sheppard’s father spoke today in a great interview on MetroMorning.

Remember when Toronto’s i4i software company successfully sued Microsoft over a patent violation for the Word program? It’s not quite over yet. Microsoft is still filing appeals in the U.S. Michael Vulpe, the founder of i4i, vowed to fight. “Microsoft, despite their resources, simply can’t walk over small patent holders,” he said.

A week after Gmail introduced phone calls to its popular email service, it will now allow users to prioritize emails, as opposed to filing them chronologically. Check your email in the next week or so to see it in action.

And, old people will change the face of social media. Toronto’s Sysomos, a firm which tracks social media trends, says 50-64-year-olds are using Facebook and Twitter in droves. Look here for all the stats.
