On the eve of a possible strike, Toronto Star publisher John Honderich took out a full-page ad in his own paper Saturday to assure readers and advertisers that his company isn't trying to eliminate 2,000 carriers. No, silly, they're just contracting them out. The work and pay should stay the same, says the chief. That's amazing. While Honderich can't afford to pay the carriers himself, he apparently can dictate to the new employers how much they should pay.
