Keanu Reeves on assignment

Keanu Reeves, the first international teddy bear conference (what?), and a 13-year old bear collector who is “not the kind of kid who would really play with” bears.

If you spent much time on the Internet or watched a lot of CBC in the 80s, you may have already seen this gem from CBC’s archives. “Gem” is really the word to describe it.

Reeves is in true pioneering form as he hilariously scoffs at the practice of teddy-bear collecting (while interviewing a teddy-bear collector) and converses with a sunglasses-wearing teddy-bear, telling it, “We gotta go down to the bears-only café and talk bears-ness.”

His interview subject, Graham Abbey, now approaching 40, went on to star in Stratford productions and was back on CBC for The Border recently. His Wikipedia entry still bears evidence of this bear interview.

A quicky IMDB search reveals that Keanu is attached to some crime drama along with Catherine Zeta-Jones and, sometime in the future, a remake of Cowboy Bebop. While the prospect of a decent Cowboy Bebop movie is mildly intriguing, it seems unlikely it will match this hard-hitting report.
