The actual intent of the upcoming Luminato festival may be a little vague, but the 10-day event, beginning June 5, certainly delivers on the freebies. Fully 80 per cent of the events are free, including Kurt Perschke’s Redball art project – just keep your eye out for the big red ball all over town – and the Gothic Toronto literary event June 10 at the Music Gallery, featuring new sca-a-a-ry writings about our town by Ann-Marie MacDonald, Andrew Pyper and others. But the biggie is Cirque du Soleil’s closing performance on June 14 at the HtO Park near Harbourfront. luminato.com.
