Mosh Music Part 3

Perhaps a more interesting story than who won big at the MuchMusic Video Awards is who got the shaft. After all the pre-show hoopla about k-os receiving four nominations, no one seems to be talking about how he got shut out, including the outspoken auteur himself who’s been oddly silent. No doubt his clip for Sunday Morning being placed in the “Best Pop Video” category must’ve been troubling enough for the image-conscious singer/rapper even before getting aced out by Hedley’s Gunnin’. But that’s nothing compared to the seeing the Best Rap Video get scooped by Ottawa upstart Belly for the popular Pressure clip boosted by the presence of Ginuwine. But clearly, the better video won.

Last year’s MMVA sweetheart Nelly Furtado, who made a clean sweep of five Junos back in April, was nominated in three categories, Best International Video By A Canadian, MuchMoreMusic Award and Favourite Canadian Artist and wound up with nada. Interestingly enough, neither Furtado nor k-os were anywhere to be seen at the event, almost as if they somehow knew they would leave empty-handed.
