Terrence Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomedical Research, U of T
We’ve yet to see Frank Gehry’s wildly anticipated redesign of the AGO, but another award-winning addition to the city skyline is U of T’s human genome research epicentre. Rising like a hurricane amid the sombre, circa-1900 stone walls facing College, the sexy see-through blends dreamily into its surroundings, at night pulsing with different hues as if it, too, were a living, breathing thing. Beautiful and brainy all at the same time. Can’t ask for more in architecture.
