While most of the City Hall press corps was at #fordcourt2 on Friday, November 16, the mayor's Striking Committee was fixing midterm appointments to city boards and committees. Josh Colle's move to Executive Committee got the most attention. But the move to replace Chin Lee with Budget chief Mike Del Grande on the Police Services Board is the real biggie. Del Grande's appointment still has to get through council. If that happens, Del Grande's vote tips the balance against Police Chief Bill Blair as a battle over the police budget and another hiring freeze loom.
Can you spot the separated bike lane? This photo sent by reader Norman Britting shows a major design flaw in the lanes currently under construction on Sherbourne: the raised curbs separating bikes from traffic don't start till well south of the intersection on Wellesley. Britting says that on the day he took this picture, he saw several cars and a Wheel-Trans vehicle parked in the lane.
