Wild City
The last time the city deployed a low-flying helicopter to spray trees with the gypsy-moth-killing insecticide Btk (Bacillus thuringiensis kurstaki), we were “strongly urged” to close our windows and lock our doors until at least 30 minutes after the early-morning spraying was complete. No such warning this time round for spraying planned across Toronto from May 21 to June 11. The statement issued by media relations last week advises that “no special precautions” are necessary. However, residents may want to cover patio furniture and outdoor playing areas to minimize exposure.
Spotted: In the wilds of Saint-Eustache, Quebec, the TTC’s new bendy buses, slated for delivery next year. Read about it at nowtoronto.com.

Bells On Bloor
The annual mass ride to push for bike lanes on Bloor attracted hundreds of cyclists Saturday, May 11, as well as crowds all along the route cheering riders on. Outside the Make Den sewing studio, a fashion statement of sorts: a bike made of fabric. Dig the fringed saddle.
