Thousands of Toronto residents gathered at Queen’s Park on Sunday, October 15, to fight racism and white supremacy. The Unity Rally To End White Supremacy was planned in response to the “Toronto Nationalist Rally” reportedly planned for the University of Toronto over the summer.
The rally began shortly after 12 pm, where a number of speakers, including rally organizer Shannon McDeez and Black Lives Matter – Toronto cofounder Sandy Hudson, addressed the crowd. The protest was followed by a march through downtown streets, with protestors holding signs against Islamophobia and other forms of racial and cultural discrimination.
