Post hacks schmooze at libertarian fest

Rating: NNNNN

What do Holocaust deniers, U.S. Christian patriot leaders, the free-market gospel and National Post columnists have in common? Why, the World Liberty Conference, of course, which is spreading its libertarian truth in London, Ontario, this very week.

The California-based International Society for Individual Liberty, which hosts the meet, has previously laid out the red carpet for the Holocaust revisionist Doug Collins.

This year’s list of speakers includes the Freedom Party of Ontario’s Robert Metz, who a few years back addressed a meeting hosted by an organization headed by Paul Fromm (a former Peel teacher removed from the classroom for attending a Hitler rally), Post columnist George Jonas and Financial Post editor Terence Corcoran.

“If they spoke at a CUPE conference, it would be all right, right?” says conference director Mary-Lou Gutscher.

She dismisses the view that the ISIL serves as a bridge between the neo-conservative fiscal right and the holocaust denier/Christian militia types. The meet, she says, is simply to help people understand libertarian principles — “non-coercive interaction amongst people.’

Corcoran and Jonas did not return NOW’s calls.
