If you can't get into one of stand-up comic Russell Peters's two sold-out shows at the ACC (June 18-19), you've got another chance. You can't beat the price (by donation only). But be prepared to wait in line.
Peters and some of his stand-up buddies (Kenny Robinson, Gavin Stephens, Jean Paul, Gilson Lubin and Ron Josol - each one of them class acts) are playing a one-off at the Diesel Playhouse this Sunday (June 10).
The sure-to-be-standingroom-only event is the first MySpace Secret Standup event in Toronto. Proceeds go to the Multiple Scerosis Society Of Canada.
Doors open at 6:30 pm and the show begins at 7:30 pm. But my guess is crowds'll be forming as early as 3 or 4 to see Brampton's king of comedy, now based in L.A. and developing a sitcom, in a room that gives his hilarious act the intimacy it deserves.
Peters is also headlining during Toronto's Just For Laughs three-day extravaganza, but that's at the end of July.
The Diesel is at 56 Blue Jays Way, across from Wayne Gretzky's. Or check out http://www.myspace.com/therealrussellpeters
