Funny, it seems like only yesterday that the Toronto Arts Council was falling all over itself to thank Mayor Mel and his wife Marilyn for the hundreds of thousands of dollars their annual balls have raised for the arts.But there was the council, front and centre at City Hall recently, calling the nearly $2 million in proposed budget cuts to artists and their organizations “an embarrassment.” Don’t they get it?
