The biggest fairy tale…

Did this guy really make a point to declare himself the first to post Barack Obama’s Iowa speech, before any of his opponents in the Toronto Centre by-election race? Twice?

And, perhaps more importantly, does he really think that announcing that sort of thing will positively affect his chances of winning the riding?

The candidate in question, Chris Tindal of the Green Party, posted the clip of Obama’s speech a night before his Liberal nemesis Bob Rae mentioned that he was “inspired by the passion and decency” of what Obama said, and several days before Dipper El-Farouk Khaki added an Obama application on his Facebook page. And Tindal wants recognition for that feat of Internet prowess. So be sure to congratulate him. Or you can just drop by his recently opened campaign office on Parliament Street to let him know in person.

Of course that last suggestion – like this whole first-to-post-Obama braggadocio – is ridiculous, absurd, and bizarre, along with any other words that mean outright silly.

Above: a propaganda-style poster that may have contributed to Obama fever that’s gripping Toronto Centre candidates.
