Advance Poll information for the 2015 federal election

Voting day is fast approaching, and many can’t wait to get their hands on a ballot and vote. This weekend, advance polls are open for those eager change-seekers, or for those who simply can’t make it to the official October 19 election day.

From October 9 to 12, advance polls will be open at various locations from noon to 8 pm, with all of the information ready on your voter information card. This card will provide all of the information you need in terms of what polling station you should go to and to prove registration.

Here’s what you need to prove your identity:

  • One piece of government issued photo ID on them, such as driver’s licence, with photo, name and current address
  • Show two pieces of ID, with one showing your current address (could include a bank statement, bill, etc.)
  • If you do not have ID with current address, bring two pieces and take an oath at the polling station

Advance polls are working in part in an effort to appeal to targeted younger audiences.

To amp up youth voters’ appeal in getting their vote cast early, and voting at all for that matter, The Broadbent Institute issued a digital campaign video encouraging early voters to seize the opportunity of getting to the polling stations before October 19.

The minute-long video titled Can’t Wait highlights the dramatic urgency and anticipation many are feeling with the approaching election day, and its humorous undertone gets the message out loud and clear.
