The Rogers Centre: A microcosm of America?

If anything makes the case that Ontario’s capital city is becoming more Americanized/Albertasized, it’s those big box stores up by Eglinton and Leslie. But next on that list is fighting at baseball games.

The above video was captured at a recent Jays game, where fights in the stands seem to be more prevalent than on the field. The organization has since taken this strong stance: “The Blue Jays aren’t going to tolerate any more fight nights at Rogers Centre.”

And in not tolerating “fight nights,” there will be a ban on beer sold in the $2 sections from here on in. Paul Godfrey, CEO of the team, even mentioned scrapping the cheap section altogether.

Targeting the lower rent stakeholders: even more American?
