Women march to honour International Women's Day on March 5.
1. IWD STREET ACTION
Celebrate International Women's Day on Saturday (March 5), when women rally and march to call for an end to hate, racism and poverty and demand justice on the street and on the job. Rally at OISE, 252 Bloor West, at 11 am and march at 1 pm to Ryerson, 55 Gould, where women's orgs share information and strategies. Free. iwdtoronto.ca.
2. SUPPORT SISTERING
IWD officially falls on Tuesday (March 8), and you can honour it at the Stand Up 4 Sistering: Daria Dance Party at Comedy Bar, 945 Bloor West. A raft of excellent comics - including Dawn Whitwell, Natalie Norman and Kye Fox - take the stage to benefit the organization delivering services to marginalized women. $10. comedybar.ca.
3. WHY BLACK LIVES MATTER MATTERS
Civic engagement org Why Should I Care? devotes its latest salon to the Black Lives Matter movement, with guests Andray Domise and Akio Maroon explaining why it's just as necessary in Canada as it is in the States.
