Things the Toronto Police care less about than marijuana dispensaries

This afternoon, Toronto police carried out “Project Claudia,” busting dozens of marijuana dispensaries across Toronto in a massive, coordinated raid on supposed traffickers.

Here are 11 things that the Toronto Police Service evidently cares about less:

1. Cars parked in bike lanes.

2. The Charter rights of Black people.

3. The Charter rights of white people.

4. Everything Rob Ford ever did.

5. Not shooting people in distress.

6. People illegally giving strangers rides for money.

7. Your Ward News.

8. Their own horses crapping in bike lanes.

9. Your tax dollars.

10. Threats against women.

11. Consistency.

“Officers have a considerable amount of discretion which they use,” police spokesperson Mark Pugash told NOW in February, explaining why the force was unlikely to crack down on dispensaries. “We have a large number of competing priorities and so we make decisions about where we think our resources will do the most good and where they’re most needed.”
