fighting the charges laid bypolice in Quebec will not be cheap. To help come up with the bucks, Toronto organ player and songwriter Chris Brown is compiling tracks for a fundraising CD. The Gas CD will include songs from the Tragically Hip, Ani DiFranco, Sarah Harmer, Barenaked Ladies, the Rheostatics and Jello Biafra. The album will be manufactured and distributed by DiFranco’s Righteous Babe Records.
On Monday (May 14), there’s a benefit concert for the Jaggi Singh legal defence fund at Barcode (549 College), featuring members of the Toronto Symphony, the Canadian Opera Company, the National Ballet Orchestra and the Hamilton Philharmonic. It starts at 8 pm and it’s pwyc. Call 416-579-1130.
