On the eve of ceremonies to mark the beginning of the Winter Games in Sochi, some 100 demonstrators gathered outside the Russian consulate on Bloor Wednesday night to protest Russia’s anti-gay laws. The crowd grew as it later marched down Church to the Ryerson University where the event came to end. Russia’s shame is global. More than 60 countries on the planet still have laws criminalizing homosexuality.
