The runway tent is up in Nathan Phillips Square and it’s fronted in glass this time (all the better to make non fashiony city hall visitors envious of our glamourous grind I suppose?). I'm off liquids (in a bid to put off sub zero port-a-potty visits as long as possible) and daily outfits are all nicely lined up in my suddenly springy closet.
Today's schedule begins with Project Runway Canada winner Evan Biddell and ends with grocery store garmento Joe Mimran's Joe Fresh collection. Italian design legend Elio Fiorucci will deliver some nugget of style wisdom as the guest speaker at Holt Renfrew's kick off cocktail party and Montrealer Denis Gagnon will, most likely, score a point for the Quebec contingent in town to show this season.
In the middle of it all, Russian designer Max Chernitsov makes his North American debut. To whet your catwalk whistle, here is a link to his spring/summer 2008 show. In it, Russian Fashion Week looks as nouveau chic as we've always imagined. Click over tomorrow for full show reviews and word on whether Chernitsov brings his cartoon gigolos to town or waters things down for us western closet cases.
