Turner Classic Movies (Rogers 48) is running all early rock ‘n’ roll movies today (Tuesday April 15) starting at 6:15 am this morning with Roy Orbison in The Fastest Gun Alive and running till 6 pm tonight with Get Yourself A College Girl with Nancy Sinatra, the Standells, the Dave Clark 5, the Animals, and Stan Getz & Astrud Gilberto, .
Not to be missed @ 4:45 pm: It’s Trad, Dad — the 1962 directorial debut of Richard Lester (A Hard Day’s Night was his second film). Starring 15 year-old Helen Shapiro — ever wonder where Amy Winehouse got the beehive? — and John Leyton, the Trad in question is the Dixieland jazz revival that swept the UK in the late 50s and pre-Beatle 60s. Acker Bilk and his ilk.
