“I have settled into my new life as a freedom fighter.”
Conrad “Che” Black, still a legend in his own mind, ponders a future behind bars.
Belinda a puck bunny?
It's about time former Leafs tough guy Tie Domi, so revered by the lap dog sports media in this town, had his bubble burst. Domi has allegedly been getting a leg over with auto parts heiress and Liberal MP Belinda Stronach, according to divorce papers filed by Domi's wife. Turns out this bully is a creep on and off the ice. He is, after all, the same guy who used his celebrity to shill for Lastman's crooked crew when they ran this town. There was also a minor role in that mother of all computer scandals his salesman brother got all tangled up in. Say goodbye, Belinda, to those leadership aspirations.
A Wynne win situation
Kathleen Wynne has arrived, appointed last week to take over the education portfolio left by Gerard Kennedy and stretched to the limit by cut-obsessed Sandra Pupatello. But can Wynne be believed when she says school programs can be accommodated within the current budget? Or was she just flush with excitement about her appointment? Let's hope Wynne, who has cred to burn as a former school board trustee, isn't just being used by the Grits to deflect criticism from a beleaguered education system.
The Star’s so much garbage
The Star's backfill over its landfill faux pas has become embarrassing. Instead of retracting its allegation that council missed the chance to make a cheaper deal earlier this year, the Star continues to manufacture a garbage crisis that doesn't exist -- even going so far as to suggest that fewer will recycle now that the heat is off and T.O. has a place to put its refuse. The Star's editorialists are also insisting that council hasn't thought seriously enough about incineration. The crap just keeps piling on.
Hanging Zack out to dry
For a guy who won the Tories the election (remember that nicely timed leak about a possible criminal probe of Finance Minister Ralph Goodale?), RCMP head Giuliano Zaccardelli is being left high and dry by the friends he thought he had in the PMO. Certainly, he deserves to have his butt shipped over his force's complete muck-up of the Arar file. But what of the Tories' silence on Zack? Are they just hoping the controversy will go away, or are the knives being sharpened? No such thing as loyalty when there's an election to win.
