Man arrested after video shows violent purse snatching at Toronto subway station

A 44-year-old man has been arrested by Toronto police after a violent robbery at Broadview Subway Station on Monday.

The incident happened shortly before 7 p.m. at Broadview Subway Station, located at Broadview and Danforth avenues. 

Police say a woman entered the station and once inside, a man approached her. 

The suspect then grabbed the victim’s purse, causing her to fall down the stairs. 

In the video, the woman is seen falling to the ground while the suspect wrestles with her to grab her purse. He then runs away from the scene with the purse.

Police also released a second video of the suspect which shows him walking through the station.

On Thursday, police announced an arrest in the case.

Toronto resident McKinley Manalang has been charged with robbery, failure to comply with judicial release and failure to comply with probation.

He appeared in a Toronto court Thursday afternoon.
