Booklaunch features copelling selection from Canadian lesbian literature

Some of our best lesbian playwrights, poets and novelists took the stage at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre Monday, Feb. 1, to support the launch of OutSpoken: A Canadian collection of lesbian scenes and monologues, edited by NOW’s senior entertainment editor Susan G. Cole.

The evening featured performances by Trey Anthony, Mariko Tamaki, Jess Dobkin, and Lois Fine, among others.

Presented by Playwrights Canada Press, OutSpoken features poetry, prose, theatre, and even a graphic novel, and covers a wide range of subjects that concern the complex Canadian lesbian community.

Particularly riviting was the reading done by Anthony, who spoke about her own challenges in coming out to her family, and perfored an emotional monologue to a capativated audience to end the night.
