When the extremist militant group Boko Haram kidnapped 276 girls from Chibok school in Nigeria, the international community took notice and now US troops have been deployed alongside soldiers from the UK. China and France are providing assistance, Canada has promised to send equipment and Israel is sending a counterterrorism unit.

The Nigerian government has rejected the group’s offer to exchange the girls for the release of prisoners.

One girl has escaped and returned home.

More to come.
