Is the Fringe slowly turning into a music festival? Unlikely, but this year’s diverse crop of music-themed shows should play to fans of all genres.

If you’re a Dad-rocker, take the kids to see Rock Time 2009 (Palmerston Library), a family-friendly puppet show about glam-punks trying to hit the big time. Then check out I Am Not Neil Young (Holy Joe’s), a musical autobiography by singer/guitarist Frank Wills about his time filling Young’s shoes in the band Buffalo Springfield Revisited.
If you’re feeling more contemporary, hit up MC Jabber & Friends: A Solo Show (Royal St. George’s) to check out the titular “polyphonic post-rap MC,” or Toys (Factory Mainspace) by Winston Spear, an offbeat concept show that’s heavy into house music.
For those in search of easier listening, there’s a five-piece jazz band led by Corry Sobol featured in Good Place For A Factory!, and Mama Manilow (both at Factory Mainspace) promises a love story set to the crooner tunes of – you guessed it – Barry Manilow.
