Culture Stage

Artists shifting creative gears

The Fringe is always a great place for artists to try on different hats. This year, Second City alum Jenny Parsons presents her first painting exhibition, Awesome Paintings And Comic-books. It’s at the Visual Fringe (from July 4).

Marco Bernardi, a promising stand-up, joins the cast of SOULO (from July 6 at the Robert Gill), Tracey Erin Smith’s circus-like piece about queer-identified men sharing stories about cross-dressing.

And in Fake News Fangirl (from July 5 at Theatre Passe Muraille Backspace), respected comedy blogger and critic Sharilyn Johnson performs her show about her obsession with The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. (Followers of Johnson’s Twitter account, @thirdbeat, know how obsessed she can be.)
